Ski Area > The Valley of Abondance

The Valley of Abondance gathers 6 towns in its district named « Canton d’Abondance » : Bonnevaux, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Châtel, Chenevoz, Vacheresse and Abondance.

These villages and village-resorts offer multiple cultural wonders. These include fishing sports in rivers and mountain lakes, once carried out  to survive by the locals, production activities well known to the world now with cheese making (fromage d'Abondance), and its chalets labelled « Pays d’Art et d’Histoire » which serve to highlight the historical and cultural heritage of the Valley.

Abondance, the district's administrative center, located at 1000 meters of altitude, contains a rich historical architecture as can be attested by its 10 centuries old Abbaye classified as a listed building (cloister, abbey church and religious arts museum) and by its center «  la maison du Val d’Abondance » which exposes local cultural and agricultural wealth and knowhow, including the sale and tasting of farm products.

Among the great cultural and sport events happening around here, there is the «  Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc », an international Sled dog race, the lumberjack gathering, or the Country Heritage Celebration (journée du patrimoine de pays).
